About Mill Ridge, Mangawhai
Mill Ridge is slightly elevated sitting on a ridge with 360 degree views overlooking Mangawhai to the East and inland over rolling green pastures to the West. Looking north you'll see the spectacular Brynderwyn Hill mountain range with its covering of New Zealand native forest trees such as Kauri and Rimu.
Running adjacent to the property is a freshwater stream which flows down to meet the waters of the inner Mangawhai harbour. At the bottom of the hill is an old Mill (hence our name - Mill Ridge), with more rural views to the Tara, where the red volcanic soil nourishes avocado orchards.
Much of Mill Ridge is north facing meaning there are plentiful spots to relax and enjoy the sun. The grounds are meticulously maintained with some areas of regenerating native bush and some of manicured lawns and lushly planted garden beds. Guests are welcome to explore Mill Ridge at their leisure.
Mill Ridge was established to provide travellers, tourists and weekenders with a quiet, peaceful retreat from the responsibilities and stresses of day to day life, work and family life. Our cottages are furnished and equipped with every detail covered to make sure that you have the perfect escape and can make the most of your time away.
Your hosts, Alison Cox and her sister Laraine moved from Auckland to Mangawhai in 1999, inspired by the magic of the region and the welcoming local community.
Alison is now a driving force in Northland's Tourism Development Group believing strongly in the importance of tourism to this region. Both Alison and Laraine enjoy meeting Mill Ridge guests and helping them to get the most out of their stay in Northland using their extensive knowledge of the activity options available in and around Mangawhai.
