Eco Accommodation New Zealand, Mangawhai North Island
Stunning natural setting
Mill Ridge is one of our "places of the heart" and it is our privilege and pleasure to be able to share this magical environment with our guests. Our special piece of Mangawhai provides travellers with a quiet, peaceful retreat in a stunning setting.
Mill Ridge is slightly elevated sitting on a ridge with 360 degree views overlooking Mangawhai with water views to the East and rolling green pastures to the West. Looking north you'll see the spectacular Brynderwyn mountain range with its covering of New Zealand native trees such as Kauri, Totara, Manuka and Rimu, and in the distance, the distinctive outline of the Hen and Chicken Islands.
Running adjacent to the property is a freshwater river which flows down to meet the waters of the Mangawhai harbour. One of our favourite past times is to kayak up the mangrove-lined river and enjoy a picnic lunch with just the grazing cows, bird and fish life for company. At the bottom of the hill is an old Mill (hence our name - Mill Ridge), with more rural views out over the valley towards the olive groves and fledgling vineyards and to the Tara, where the red volcanic soil nourishes thriving avocado orchards.
