Fishing & Diving
There are several deep sea fishing charters including diving available with a range of trips on offer. You can also surf cast and rock fish from any of the beaches. Ask at Mangawhai Tackle and Dive shop for the best spots! A concrete boat ramp is also available on the estuary if you are bringing your own boat.

Golf
There is an excellent 18 hole all weather championship golf course at Mangawhai Heads. Resident pro is well known Ted McDougal. Golf carts and clubs are available for hire. For the golf challenged or simple family fun there is also a mini golf range at Mangawhai Heads.

Water Sports
The local surf beach is patrolled throughout the summer season keeping surfers and swimmers safe. Mangawhai is a great place to learn to surf. There is also the safe inner harbour for swimming, with designated ski lanes. Kayaking is another Mangawhai favourite on the inner harbour waters with the opportunity to explore the fascinating mangrove groves.

Each March or April
There are many bush, forest and coastal walks (including the magnificent cliff top walks) available with spectacular scenery and lookouts. Each March or April Mangawhai hosts the Mangawhai Walking weekend in which local guides take groups on guided walks of varying degrees of difficulty from gentle garden tours to day long bush treks. The Visitor Information Centre by the Golf Course has a range of maps covering the walks.
Shopping
Mangawhai is renowned for its arts and crafts and there are a number of galleries and studios open to the public. Both the Heads and the Village offer a wide range of shops catering for most needs.

Mangawhai Museum
The Mangawhai Museum presents a unique opportunity to go back in time to meet the earliest pioneers of the area (many of their descendents are still actively involved with the Mangawhai community) and learn how they developed the area from wild bush country into lush dairy grazing.
